I've been working a little with 3d art but not much in the way of sketching or painting. I finally feel like painting again. This one is brand new. What started out to be a simple fantasy scene actually became alot more. Thanks for looking.
Paint Shop Pro isn't on the software used list. Most of this image was created in PSP and only a small part in PS.

From Rebecca Kimmel's OFDW 021 "Angels & Devils"
This image was inspired by the work of
MOCHI, Francesco
Angel of Annunciation
1603-05

I used Painter's default brushes to blend and shape the angel and her clothing using mostly oils. Photoshop came in handy for finer details like face, hands, hair and feet. I wasn't sure if I should detail the bird more or not. It's a falcon I think.
I had alot of fun with this image and had alot of helpful suggestions along the way.
Rebecca's figure drawing workshops are excellent.

Renew

Hi,
This image is called 'Renew'. The girl is running through the forest and suddenly stops among the butterflies and birds. Here is a moment of enchantment and it is like being caught in time. The best way I can think of to try and describe it is an eternal transition. Spring is very near and Winter is beginning to fade away. Even a few Fall leaves remain. Sunlight softly and gently breaks through the overhead branches...
I began this image with sketches in pencil and then again in color pencil. Then in PS or PSP(or both)I refine the sketches, enhance colors, use brushes and work on the actual composition. This may not be the easiest way but it gives me a little better control.
I hope to get a critique on the atmosphere,lighting,figure..or anything else you see that I can improve upon.
Thank you for looking!

Two warriors are entering the forest preparing to meet any danger that may await them...

I created this image first with regular graphite pencils then again with color pencils. The pencil texture is easily seen on this image. I like the 'real' look of the texture from the pencils but I also like the smoothness that I see in alot of other cgtalk artworks. I am still learning and was not able to achieve a totally smooth look to this image but maybe that is ok.

Mystery Island Collage

I began this as a rough sketch of just the face. I didn't have an idea as to what the end result would be. I added things as I went. I usually have a finished image in mind when I begin a work but not this time. I began adding bits and pieces of other paintings I've done recently of a volcano and another of the ocean. Things just sort of came together and I ended up with a collage which reminds me of those old time movie posters. Comments and crits are welcome.
Thanks for looking.

The Ice Faerie in the image has uncovered an ancient key that will open the door which leads to another dimension and where the mortals live.
I wanted to do something more with the ice where the long ice formations meet the ice floor. I welcome your comments and thanks for looking.
*edit; I updated the ice floor and adjusted the area under the fairy's feet. More definition added to the wings and shoulder of the fairy as well as some of the ice.
